Web Design Trends for 2010
As summer comes to an end and Back to School Season is in full swing, it’s time for us all to
get into the “Back to Work” mindset – and make sure that our web sites are ready to help
us meet our business goals and objectives.
It’s hard to believe - but 2010 is just around the corner. Now is a great time to take
a good look at your web site and how you are using it to meet your business goals
and objectives. Your site is a visual representation of you and your business so it’s
important to look at it with a critical eye periodically and make adjustments
where necessary.
Designing for the Future
There are some cool web sites out there that designers like to visit to see what’s on the
horizon. Some of the trends are very artistic and may only be suitable for a very
specific type of company or site; however, oftentimes modified versions of these
trends start to make their way into more mainstream web sites. For example – one
trend for 2010 is large typography, more white space with splashes of color and
cleaner/simpler layouts.

It’s also important to remember that while you want your site to look current and have
design elements that keep it from looking dated – there is still no substitute for some
Design 101 basics that never go out of style.
- Make sure your content is fresh, up-to-date, and full of the information your
customers are looking for!
- Keep links active and make sure they are not broken.
- Use quality images on your site.
- Ensure that copy is clean and easy to read.
